Manal Shehab

Counsellor
Manal identifies as a Muslim Australian with Egyptian heritage. She is a Faith-based Counsellor, working holistically with members of our community and their families who are experiencing alcohol and drug misuse, family violence, gambling addiction, relationship, and mental health issues. She runs empowerment women’s workshops and as well as motivational speaking workshops across many of our Islamic schools encouraging our youth to tap into the hero within.

She is currently a Peer Support Psychoeducation Program Facilitator with SHARC Family Drug Help, a Team Leader at WIRE Women’s Information supporting victim survivors of family violence, and the Community Development Officer with PartnerSpeak.

As if all of the above weren’t enough, Manal is a member of the Multifaith Advisory Group to Premier and Cabinet on Family Violence in Faith setting, board member of Federation of Ethnic Community Council Australia and member of Women’s Federation for World Peace and is an active participant in many interfaith dialogues. She is also a published author of Islamic Children’s books.

Manal is a passionate advocate for the voiceless, and is honoured to serve her community in this sector as she believes mainstream services lack the understanding and ability to adequately support those from culturally, linguistically, and religiously diverse communities. She is hoping to bridge that gap.
